MEMORABLE INSIGHTS
The Tallest Statue
approx. 135 ft. of Guru Padmasambhava, the first patron St. of Sikkim,
situated at Samdruptse, Namchi, South Sikkim.
A short guided soft trek will take you to the razor sharp edge of
humongous cliff Taray Bhir. While you are soaking-in the
panorama, your heart will soar across Teesta and Rungeet
rivers flowing 4000 feet below, to the view of Kalimpong perched on the
saddle between Durpin and Delo hills; and
Darjeeling seated on the Lebong spur.
Oblivious of your
excitement, a herd of territorial wild mountain goats - jharals (hemitragus
jemlahicus) or gorals (naemorhedus)
may come browsing your toes from below and assert their domain from your
walk on the wild side. You will raise your hat to sapient Sikkim for
conserving all these and more ... you will also thank the incumbent Rural
Development Department for the sturdy cliff hanger railing.
Another hill walk with a local English speaking guide will take you
up to the highest point above Turuk from where one can have a different
perspective of the Himalayas. You can stroll through the village and have a
glimpse of simple lifestyle of the people. You might get lucky to watch them
busying themselves with their handicraft and even be offered to buy some.
Sharing a moment and a hot mug of black tea in any of their homes will be
welcome.
Sight seeing trips to nearby tourist
locations in Sikkim can be organized conveniently by the resort front desk
using vehicles owned by comparatively more enterprising villagers of Turuk,
thereby helping the local economy. The same vehicles can come and pick you
up from Bagdogra Airport or New Jalpaiguri Railway station and bring you to
TURUK KOTHI
HERITAGE HOME and at the end of your stay here, can also drop you
back.
The resort front desk can help organize services like
cultural dances, trekking guides, white water rafting trips, vehicles for
sight seeing trips, pick up from and drop back to airport or railway station
at actual costs payable to those service providers.
The back hill slope is ideal for short trek towards Rani Ban with lush green
vegetation and rare medicinal plants. The aroma of wild flowers and the
humming of bees and cherping of birds fills the air as you ascend uphill
which refreshes your mind and soul.
The view of the sun setting from Taray Bhir, over the horizon is simply
breathtaking.
